“John de St. John his son and heir, who was summoned the 1, 2, 4, and 5 Edw. III but without the distinction of de Lageham. He married Catherine, daughter of Geffery de Say, and died circ. 23 Edw. III., being then seised of Lageham, in the county of Surrey, and of Staunton St. John, in the county of Oxford.” | ||

John (St. John), Lord Saint John de Lageham, son and heir, aged 15 at his father's death in 1323 (calculated birth in 1308). He was sum. to Parliament, by writs directed " Johanni de S. Johnnne " (without the addition of " de Lageham ") from 1 Aug. (1327), 1 Ed. III., to 18 Feb. (1330/1), 5 Ed. III., but not subsequently, being, indeed, so infirm in 13-16 that he was respited of his homage for the lands held in dower by his mother, Margaret, which came to him on her death in that year. He married Catharine, daughter of Geoffrey de Say. He died 8 April (1349) 23 Ed. Ill, being seized of the manors of Stanton St John and Barton co. Oxon and of Lageham co. Surrey. His widow, who held Lageham for her life, released her right therein in 1356 to Sir Nicholas de Louvaine. | ||

Enrolment of grant by Roger son and heir of John de Seint Johan of Lageham, knight, to Sir Nicholas de Loveyne, knight, and to Margaret his wife of the reversion of all the land which Sir Peter de Seint Johan, Roger's uncle, holds for life, with woods, meadows and other appurtenances, which land is called 'Ladylond,' and was formerly parcel of the manor of Lageham; Roger has also granted to them the reversion of all the lands and meadows with their appurtenances which John de Codeston holds of the lease of Dame Katherine, Roger's mother, for her life, as parcel of the said manor; Roger has also granted to them the reversion of all the lands which John le Forester holds with appurtenances, of the lease of the said Katherine, for her life, as parcel of the said manor to hold for themselves and the heirs of their bodies, with remainder, in default of such heirs, to the right heirs of Nicholas.
