And besides John SeyntJohan granted for himself and his heirs that the manor - which Walter Cornu and Constance, his wife, held for the life of Constance, and which after the decease of Constance ought to remain to John Herry, clerk, if he survives Constance, to hold for life, and which after the decease of Constance and John Herry ought to revert to John SeyntJohan and his heirs - after the decease of Constance and John Herry shall remain to William, Richard and John Hankeford' and the heirs of John, to hold of the chief lords for ever.” | ||

Parties: John Rowe, the parson of the church of Were Gyffard', and John Novus, clerk, querents, and [Walter] Pollard' and Elizabeth, his wife, deforciants. Property: A moiety of 27 messuages, of 12 carucates of land, of 40 acres of meadow, of 24 acres of wood, of 100 acres of moor and of 10 shillings of rent, and a fourth part of 1 knight's fee in Esthorwode, Mortho, Stoford', Criditon' and Ryngisasshe. Action: Plea of covenant. Agreement: Walter and Elizabeth have acknowledged the moiety and fourth part to be the right of John Rowe, of which John and John have the moiety of 1 messuage, of 1 carucate of land, of 20 acres of meadow and of 40 acres of moor of their gift. For this: John and John [have granted to Walter and Elizabeth] the same moiety and have rendered it to them in the court, to hold to Walter and Elizabeth and the heirs of their bodies, of John and John and the heirs of John Rowe for ever, rendering yearly 1 rose at the feast of the Nativity of St John the Baptist, and doing to the chief lords all other services. And besides John and John granted for themselves and the heirs of John Rowe that the moiety of 26 messuages, of [11] carucates of land, of 20 acres of meadow, of 24 acres of wood, of 60 acres of moor and of the rent, and the fourth part - which Walter Cornu held [for life] of the inheritance of John Rowe in the aforesaid vills on the day the agreement was made, and which after the decease of Walter Cornu ought to revert to John and John and the heirs of John Rowe - after the decease of Walter Cornu shall remain to Walter Pollard' and Elizabeth and their aforesaid heirs, to hold together with the aforesaid moiety, of John and John and the heirs of John Rowe by the aforesaid services for ever. In default of such heirs, the moiety and fourth part shall revert to John and John and the heirs of John Rowe, quit of the other heirs of Walter Pollard' and Elizabeth, to hold of the chief lords for ever.
