Name(s): de Pavelly, Laurence Addressees: King and council. Nature of request: Pavelly requests that the treasurer and barons of the Exchequer be commanded to discharge him of a rent demanded from him by summons of the Exchequer for an assart of his ancestor on the manor of Paulerspury made when the manor was in the forest of Whittlewood. The manor is no longer in the forest, and following an earlier petition and inquisition the treasurer and barons of the Exchequer were ordered to discharge him but have not done so. Nature of endorsement: Let the inquisition be brought into Chancery, and the chancellor is to call the wise people of the council, and the inquisition is to be viewed and let justice be done. Name(s): de Pavelly, Laurence Addressees: King and council. Nature of request: Laurence de Pavelly states that his ancestors held certain lands of William Peverel for the service of a knight's fee, and, after William's forfeiture, his father held the lands of Edward I, and performed the service in his Welsh expeditions in his fifth and tenth years. However, despite this, scutage is being demanded of him for these same expeditions. He asks to be discharged of this demand. Nature of endorsement: He is to sue to have whether he did his service or not taken from the roll of the Marshall in the Exchequer, and he is to show his charters there; and if the charters are such as the petition claims, and it is found that he did his service, he is to be discharged as is reasonable.
