  	The 1194 Pipe Roll quoted below indicates that Sutton passed to Robert de Courtenay, son of Renaud de Courtenay by his second marriage, on the death of his father. Robert, son of [Renaud], son of Renaud, may have been by-passed because of his young age, but would have inherited Sutton after the death of his uncle (or of his uncle’s son William, assuming that the latter survived his father). “Gui du Donjon chevalier” guaranteed the loyalty of “Robert de Courtenai” to the king by charter dated Nov 1217
