Richard Roth Butler, son of John Roo of Tibberaght, John Bege Butler and Edmund Roo Butler, brother of said Richard, kerns, at Ballymayn stole one pot, a stone and a half of wool, 8 yards of linen cloth, 4 yards of woollen frieze (frissa lanei), 2 linen sheets (lintheamia), 2 horse-locks, 2 cases (forelae) full of linen thread, and zs. in silver in a purse, belonging to James Londei of Ballymayn. (In margin : suspensi). Donoghe O'Molcroee of Rathcowner, stole 13 sheep of James Hacket : quietus. Thomas Cantwell, chancellor of St. Patrick's Cathedral, Cashel, and one of the vicars-general of the diocese of Cashel, received from Margaret Comerford and Peter Archer, executors of the last will of James Archer, late of Archerstown, defunct, for proving the last will of said testator, five marks, extortionately and against the form of the statute. James O'She, Philip Me Richard O'She, John O'She and Marv ne Gillan, wife of William fitz James late of Kilneganaghe, stole a rosary of coral (oraculum de cor all] worth 81., a shirt, a ' faring,' a woman's tunic (tonica muliebris), a linen cloth called ' a kerche of holand,' two silver crosses worth 35. and a gold cross worth 205. of John Toben ; and Ellicia Nihurrelly, singlewoman, received the stolen crosses. William Mac Conoghor O'Karane late of Johneston stole 2 cows of Edmund Kelly, and 56 of Philip Bryt at Sherpiston : suspensus. Edmund Rakon late of Balynemonenkrycky stole 7 cows of Donat Me Shane : suspensus. Melaghlyn O'Contreny of Widdingeston, swineherd, stole an iron called in English ' a plough irne ' worth 2s., and a ' faling ' of Tadeus Me Dermot : suspensus. William Cantwell fitz Meyler late of Kilmocolmoke, kern, stole cattle of Dermot O'Donogho : quietus. June I, 1558. 73. Bond of June 20 in the 3rd and 4th years of Philip and Mary, by Patrick Sarsfelde of Dublin, alderman, to Sir Edmund Butler, in the sum of ioo/. The condition of this bond is that Walter Pepparde, esquire, who quietly enjoys the tithes of Carlow and Fassoughreban in counties Carlow and Kildare for a term of II years, shall pay annually during that term to said Edmund or his assigns the sum of 20/., or after the end of the first two years shall pay annually between harvest time and All Hallows 40 pecks of corn, half wheat, half oats, and 20 marks in money, and shall discharge said Edmund from the payment of all rents reserved out of the premises to the King and Queen on behalf of the late monastery of Our Lady by Dublin, and also all proxies, synodals and other ecclesiastical duties.
