    SOUTHAMPTON. Inq. taken at Basyngstoke, Thursday after the Conversion of St. Paul, 8 Richard II.
    With the king’s licence he granted the under-mentioned bailiwick by charter to Bernard Brocas, knight, Master Arnold Brocas, John de Chitterne, clerk, Peter Golde, William Hermite and Henry Holte, and their heirs; and they, also with the king’s licence, granted the same to him for life, with reversion to themselves and their heirs.
    With the king’s licence he granted the under-mentioned manors to Hugh Cran, John Berewode, clerk, Thomas Chamberleyn, William Porchas, Robert Palmer, Ellis Savage and John Pakenham, and their heirs; and they, also with the king’s licence, granted the same to him and Joan his wife, who is still living, for life, with reversion to themselves and their heirs.
    Wolmere and Alsisholte. The bailiwick of the forests, held of the king by service of keeping the said forest (sic).
    Wolferton, Iwerste and Ocle. The manors, held of the king in chief, service and value not known.
    He died on Friday after the Conception of the Blessed Mary last. Joan, daughter of Richard de Sancto Johanne his brother, aged 18 years and more, is his heir.
